In the tug-of war of my heart, beagles won out. :)  These are the dogs I have fostered until they found their forever home.

Berkeley (now Riley)

ADOPTED 12-04

Sam (AKA "Fat Hobbit")

(click picture to view Sam's webpage)

ADOPTED 6-05 (by me!)

Snoopy

ADOPTED 7-05

I only had Snoopy for a few days before he went to his long term foster home, but when I need to walk 4 dogs at a time for more than 1 day, the 4th gets counted as a foster dog!

Thomas

(click picture to view Thomas' webpage)

ADOPTED 8-05

Thomas was the 1st research laboratory beagle to be adopted out from this particular lab, and it was exciting to be a part of it!  Thomas arrived at my (foster) home on July 5th, 2005.

Charlie Brown

(click picture to view Charlie's webpage)

ADOPTED 10-05

Charlie Brown is the last of the research laboratory beagles to be adopted out from the lab, and we were very excited to be a part of his adoption, too!  Charlie Brown was released from the lab on September 7th, 2005.

In March 2006, I helped co-found a new rescue which will be dedicated not only to rescuing shelter dogs, but  to establishing and strengthening relationships with laboratories to help get more adoptable beagles into rescue.

Sonic

ADOPTED 4-06

Sonic was just 3 months old, and he and his littermates ended up in a high kill shelter in Ohio.  The newly formed CBR-East was in the process of rescuing some of the adults from the shelter, and was asked to take in the last of a litter of beagle mixes, Sonic.  We of course said, "yes!"

Baxter

ADOPTED 6-06

Baxter was about 9 months old, and CBR-East was contacted by some frantic WV shelter volunteers saying that they just HAD to get this puppy out of the horrible conditions at the shelter.  He was at risk of being euthanized in a week's time.  CBR-East invested a lot in little Baxter by having him kenneled and vetted at a WV vet, and then transported up to NJ.  I had no time to make Baxter a webpage since I was in the process of relocating at the time, but it's not because he did not deserve one!

Tweety (now Petey) (with me)

(click picture to view Tweety's webpage)

ADOPTED 10-06

Well, we did it...we intended to have CBR-East work with laboratories to release their adoptable beagles, and Tweety was the first of ELEVEN that we accepted during the month of August 2006.  Tweety was 6 years old and was thought to be one of the more "high strung" beagles to be released, so we took him first to give him time in foster care to work out his quirks.  He ended up being a riot...

Elmer

(click picture to view Elmer's webpage)

ADOPTED 10-06 (by me!)

Here's Elmer...the second to be released from the laboratory.  I fostered both Tweety and Elmer at the same time.  Elmer was also 6 years old, and was thought to have a possible heart murmur.  Elmer needed extensive time in foster care...and never left!  LOL.

I pulled and fostered - at least short term - the following lab beagles until BONES accepted and adopted them out. THANK YOU BONES!!

Wile E - ADOPTED 9-06 Henry (now Jake) - ADOPTED 9-06 Pepe (now Buddy) - ADOPTED 9-06 Speedy (now Orion) - ADOPTED 9-06

Gus

ADOPTED 6-07

Gus had a rough time of things...was with me from August until mid-September, then with another foster home from mid-September to December, and then back to me again. Gus struggled with a lot - GI problems, PICA, housetraining, etc. He stayed with me for 10 months and finally found his forever home. It was a long wait, but he seems so happy. YAY Gus! Knew you could do it!

Joe Cool

ADOPTED 2-07

Joe Cool was the oldest of the lab beagles CBR-East rescued in the summer of 2006. He was 9 years old and was looking for his FIRST home! He reminded me of the lab beagles we rescued last year - desperately craved human attention and literally just wanted to be held all day.

Tyson (now Desperado)

ADOPTED 1-07

I was able to gain the trust of an additional laboratory!! We (Cascade Beagle Rescue-East) were asked to take in 1 of their beagles in December 2006 -it was our trial run! I picked up Tyson on December 21, 2006, and fostered and trained him. I was so excited, although a little nervous to be working with a new facility. I hoped it would pay off.

Archie

ADOPTED 5-07

Archie was a tiny little squirt...about 1.5 years, under 13" and just 12 lbs. He was adorable! Archie was my first heartworm positive foster dog, but CBR-East brought him in, and we successfully treated him for his infection. He and Gus were so cute together!

Cameron

TRANSFERRED TO ANOTHER FOSTER HOME

A bit rambunctious with some behavioral issues...she may need to go to another foster home so that she can get more individualized attention. We'll see. Pippin seems like a good dog in comparison to Cameron. I've already lost a Harry Potter book, numerous pens and cups, gotten ink all over my couch cover and couch (thanks to the stolen pens), had toilet paper run over the house, and have found my underwear in the backyard (stolen from the laundry room and run through the doggie door outside)...all thanks to Cameron!

Hobbes

ADOPTED 8-07

Oh, the eyes on this one! He is a CHARMER! His nickname is "Circus Dog" given his incredible ability to jump like a gazelle, and showed me how upset I can get when one of my dogs escapes from what I thought was my beagle-proofed yard. Hobbes is a lover... very sweet.

Poco

ADOPTED 8-07

Another group of laboratory beagles from a new facility!! Tyson's lab was pleased with his release and adoption, so we are getting another 10! Poco was the first to be released in July 2007, and he sure is loco - that's about as much as I think I should say. ;) He is 15 lbs. of ADORABLE, and is making up for lost time and enjoying life!

Peanut

ADOPTED 3-08

Peanut is the second laboratory beagle released to us in July 2007. He is lovable and sweet - mild mannered, and just wants to held and snuggled.

Damien

ADOPTED 10-07

Oh - look at this FACE! A bit on the cautious side, but gaining confidence every day. Damien is a sweet. lovable beagle who wants you to hold him and give him attention all day long!

Little D (Little Damien) (now Chester)

ADOPTED 9-07

Little D is great - pretty well socialized - loves everyone. :)  He's a bit inconsistent with other dogs, but will be a fabulous addition to a loving home.  Released from the laboratory August 21, 2007.

Melvis

ADOPTED 8-07

Melvis was only with me for a few days.  He was a love while he was here, and was on his way to be transported to a BONES foster home when his transporters - Joe Cool's adopters, asked if they could adopt him!  He's been with them ever since! Released from the laboratory August 21, 2007.

TURNER

ADOPTED 9-07

Turner was so sweet...rolled over for everyone so he could get bellyrubs!  He was great with other dogs and was beginning to find his voice right before he was adopted.  Released from the laboratory August 21, 2007.

CANDY

ADOPTED 12-07

Surrendered by her owner, Candy was an exception made to our Intake policies primarily because I was very uncomfortable simply "posting" an available 6 month old unspayed female puppy on our site. We brought her into the rescue, took care of her remaining veterinary care, and I agreed to foster her. She is...well, a typical 6 month old pup! ...energetic, lovable, mischievous, adorable, etc. :)

DEXTER

ADOPTED 3-08

Little Dexter is only 4 mos. old, but came into CBR-East with a horrible wound scar around his little neck. He had come into the shelter with the wound a month before, and how a 3 mos. old pup ends up with an injury like that is too much for me think about. Dexter is a amazingly sweet and loving little puppy who shows no negative effects of whatever had happened to him. He is so sweet and deserves a loving home.

   PENNY

ADOPTED 3-08

Another sweet puppy ending up in a shelter! Sheesh...Penny was brought into the shelter in shock, dehydrated, with fluid sounds in her lungs, and this bizarre mass hanging out of her body! The mass was removed, and she is at CBR-East for a quiet recovery. She is a bit fearful and shy, but is making slow and steady progress every day! In time, she'll make a wonderful pet for a patient and loving owner.

OSCAR

ADOPTED 6-08

Yet another puppy...this one dropped in the "night box" at a shelter when he was 3 months old - real nice. Oscar has been bounced around from shelters, to rescues, to adoptive homes, and just can't seem to find the right fit. Why? He's a BEAGLE! LOL. Oscar is 100% beagle with his behaviors, and with the right family to love him for those qualities, he will make an amazing pet!

MAGGIE

ADOPTED 6-08

Our Lab Beagle Adoption Division is doing amazingly well! We now have a THIRD facility working with us, and we have brought in young females used in important surgical studies. These girls only have one 1-kidney, but are expected to live healthy, normal lives, and CBR-East is going to help make that happen in a wonderful forever home!

ANGEL

ADOPTED 7-08

Our Lab Beagle Adoption Division is doing amazingly well! We now have a THIRD facility working with us, and we have brought in young females used in important surgical studies. These girls only have one 1-kidney, but are expected to live healthy, normal lives, and CBR-East is going to help make that happen in a wonderful forever home!

SWEETPEA

ADOPTED 5-08

Our Lab Beagle Adoption Division is doing amazingly well! We now have a THIRD facility working with us, and we have brought in young females used in important surgical studies. These girls only have one 1-kidney, but are expected to live healthy, normal lives, and CBR-East is going to help make that happen in a wonderful forever home!

SKITTLES

ADOPTED 7-08

Skittles is the first from our now FOURTH facility!  She was actually never used in any studies - she's too tiny!  She is about 1.5 years old, and is truly a "princess."  She was clearly spoiled in the lab, and expects to be in foster care, too!  She is adorable, sweet, and seems to love Angel.

MIKEY

ADOPTED 8-08

Mikey is just an AWESOME dog!  He was returned to CBR-East with claims from his adopter that he was not housetrained or cratetrained.  None of the suggested strategies were even tried, and that was amazingly disappointing.  Interestingly, these problems did not start until after Mikey was there for over a month.  I expected Mikey to have major issues so he came to my home, and he's been fabulous ever since he arrived.  I am glad Mikey came back to us because clearly he was not happy. He deserves adopters willing to spend time with him and give him love and patience.  I can find nothing to even complain about with Mikey.  He never had even one accident in my home....

GEOFFREY

Oh what am I thinking???  Geoffrey was released from his laboratory at the age of 2 because of excessive protein loss in his urine.  Something is up with his kidneys, and he cannot be used in any studies.  I agreed to bring him into CBR-East since I could not turn my back on him - not after going through what I did with Bailey...

He will be a special needs adoption since he will need meds, a special diet, and continuous monitoring of his kidney values.  His prognosis should be good, but he must be monitored. He is gaining more and more confidence every day.  He has bonded very strongly to Elmer.  It's very cute. :)

ANGIE

ADOPTED 9-08

It took a LOT to get Angie to us...so much I won't even get into.  I am just relieved she made it.  She only has 1 kidney, and also has a nonfunctioning left jugular vein.  She was not expected to survive her experiments, but she did.  Atta girl!  LOL.  She LOVES toys, and will make a great pet for a special family.

CLARA

Clara is a trip.  She is very nervous, but she's a nut, too.  LOL.  She's one of the few lab retirees who loves to give kisses!  She is tiny, and jumps like a lunatic when she is excited.  She will need some confidence building and obedience training, but will make a wonderful pet.

SUMMER

Summer came to my home after having some social difficulties in her original foster home.  I still do not have her figured out. She is one of our 1-kidney retirees, but one of the most fearful so far. I think she is very selective with whom she trusts, and I think having a pack of beagles to follow really helps her. She is going to need some extensive time and socialization.

LOLA

The ears...can you believe them??  Lola is an 8 mo old lab retiree who was released b/c of a heart arrhythmia which put her outside the study criteria.  She also had what the lab thought was allergies, but once released and seen by our vets, was discovered to have demodectic mange!  Oh geez!  So, she is staying at my home now, too, so I can monitor her.  I love having puppies here, so it's great. She keeps us all on our toes!

Thanks for the graphics!
